Pre-Planning

Most people plan for their future in the way of education, careers, vacations, and even things that are unexpected; however, many people hesitate when they consider planning for a funeral service.

We understand that it can remind us of difficult times ahead for either a loved one or for ourselves, but pre-planning doesn’t have to be an uncomfortable task.

It is actually a responsible and important step that can save families both emotional and financial distress.

Having to make funeral arrangements at the time of any loss can be a very difficult time for the loved ones that are left behind.

But when the funeral — and even a payment — have been pre-arranged, most of the difficult decisions have already been made. This spares the family a lot of confusion and extra emotional distress.

Pre-funding

Many who choose to pre-plan their funeral arrangements also choose to pre-fund them. Pre-funding a funeral is perhaps one of the wisest decisions one can make.

Pre-funding Benefits

Some of the benefits of pre-funding a funeral include:

  • Placing the cost of the funeral in an investment vehicle so that the interest earned will keep up with inflation, helping to ensure that the cost of the funeral will be covered at the time of death.
  • Enabling individuals to consider their options while they are able to make sound and fiscally responsible decisions.
  • Preventing life insurance policies from being depleted at the time of a loved one’s death.
  • Sparing loved ones unexpected costs of a funeral during what can likely be an emotional and stressful time.

There are several funding options that you can choose from, including:

The Serenity Plan

The Serenity Plan is an insurance policy that is quite easy to purchase. There are no health questions or physical exams required. You can choose a one-time (single-pay) premium or multi-pay premiums of 36 or 60 monthly installments.

The Serenity Plan offers dividend-based increasing benefits that exceed other pre-need funding methods. Also, insurance policies bear no tax-consequences.

Assignment of Existing Insurance Policies

Existing insurance policies may be assigned to the funeral home, as long as they are in force and carry no loan obligations. Medicaid requires that the funeral home be made the beneficiary and owner of the policies.

Why Pre-plan?

When you choose to pre-plan your funeral, you are actually alleviating the burden on your family members to make difficult decisions during a time when they may not be prepared to do so.

Many people choose to look at pre-planning a funeral as part of their estate planning.

Pre-planning also enables the family to make the funeral or memorial service a personal tribute in keeping with the way that they would want to be remembered.

When Is the Right Time to Pre-Plan?

Perhaps the best time to make funeral pre-arrangements is when you have a family that you wish to protect from the emotional and financial burdens they would have to carry if there was no plan already in place.

By choosing to take the time now to collect funeral cost information and then calmly make specific choices related to your own funeral arrangements, you will be protecting your family from the stress of having to make those decisions at one of the most difficult times of their lives.

Plus, in so doing, you can carefully choose specific items you want and need… and pay for them now.

Wade Funeral Home is here to guide you through the pre-planning process. We have the expertise AND the experience your situation requires so that everything can be taken care of in advance — even down to the last detail.

Wouldn’t it be great to know that because of your wise and thoughtful pre-planning that you’ve ALREADY spared your loved ones the pain, agony, emotional distress (and sometimes confusion and family strife) that can be connected with the death of someone they love?

And imagine the peace of mind that comes with knowing you’ve guaranteed — in advance — that your life and memory will be celebrated the way that you want.
